I met Emma, a blogger friend, last week at a holiday crafts sale in Mill Valley. Emma has a wonderful blog called Emma Life which I've been following for some time. A native to France, Emma tells the story of living with her family in the SF bay area. It's an interesting point of view through her eyes. The day I met Emma it felt very comfortable, and so familiar! Back at the holiday craft sale, Emma was selling an assortment of her homemade jams that she was kind enough to let me sample. Ohhh, her jams are so delicious and delicate. The ratio of sugar to fruit is perfection. A very sweet meeting... Delightful jams by the delightful Emma. For my dears Catarina and Mlle Paradise: My Author list - finally! This is an incomplete list because I know I must be forgetting someone obvious. All my books are still in storage so this is from memory (and my memory lately is very scattered) So here it is, a short range from novelists, to children book authors, to poets:
Milan Kundera, Gabriel Garcia Marquez, Gioia Timpanelli, Sandra Cisneros, Pablo Neruda, Mary Oliver, Maira Kalman, David Sedaris, Maurice Sendak, M.B. Goffstein.
Happy Monday

Oh, thank you Janis! Neruda, Kundera, Sedaris and Sendak, of course. I think we could exchange some books;-)
Any news from the postman?
xoxo
Catarina - not yet, but I will be checking again today... exciting! xoxo
aahh, books. i miss reading a good book. cannot seem to find the the right moments to read for pleasure these days.
loving that there is such a thing as a society of cloud lovers. how can you not, and yet i didn't think it was something i shared with so many :)
How nice to meet in person a blogger friend! I'm always happy when there's one of Sedaris short stories in the New Yorker - I start laughing just thinking of some of them!
hehe!! funny and sweet to see that little jar over there, on YOUR table, on YOUR blog ;-)
Your list could be one of mine...
I knew it ;-)
A lot of sweet hugs my dear friend
Emma from San Francisco
I know three authors on your list ; I have to read!
Thanks for sharing this sweet moment with Emma (I'm not surprised ;)) and thanks for the links too.
I am a little tiny bit jealous because i did not get to meet you :(
homemade jam and fav books....Mmm ...good combo!
have a good week janis!
Sx
ah nice, love the jams, the story and your list!
ciao : )))
at the risk of sounding presumptuous, i'm SURE i would have loved meeting emma AND HER JAMS too!
thanks for your list janis - definitely yes sendak and kalman and see my note over at sophies about why i left capote (and kundera) off the list. for the same reasons, that i had only read one book of theirs each. ditto for marilynne robinson. marquez and vargas llosa are on my TO READ list. but that one is so very very long. thanks for playing!
i told sophie we might have to do another (joint) book post/week in jan. because i would love to hear the whys (as with Ellen at Anzu) of the books/writers you chose. and by then, maybe you'll be a bit more unpacked.
