Good neighbors

About seven squirrels live in the tree across the street,
and every mid-morning they have an intense ritual
of chasing each other in and out of this hole.
It reminds me of something I'd see in a cartoon :)

hahahaa...yes it does. Help me out here, what were the names of those two squirrels -or at least in which cartoon. It's on the tip of my tongue, but...no..forgot ;-)

So cute!

We hardly ever see squirrels in our yard.

When Tomory was little he would call them furrels.

David, Tomory's dad, has trained several of the neighborhood squirrels to come into his house, and he gives them nuts. He always jokes about squirrels carrying Plague...which I think is part of the appeal for him (he's a retired internal med doctor...kind of morbid at times).
Anyway, he gives the squirrels great names like Isabella, Don Fernando, Achilles, Hector, etc.

Ritva - Your story is funny! We have screens on our windows and now I am convinced it's a good thing :)

C.T. - Chip and Dale? They were chipmonks though, I don't know, but I feel like I've seen it somewhere before!

Jennifer - Your father-in-law sounds like a character - sweet and funny, I like that. Though I'd like to know how he trains those squirrels ??? :)

these are too cute! we have screens too. not because of squirrels, but because of insects, snakes and - oh the horror - rats (it's farmland!). not sure why these seem cute to me and rats so yikes. i have an issue with rats. and recently we had them on the roof. i pretty much died when i found out. if they had managed to enter the house i would have died. for sure.

Ha! So cute they are when they're in a photo! Their little cousins stole all our zucchini this summer... not too happy with them! :)

Oh ... I would sit in the window all day watching them (and my cats too). How cute is that?
Can I move in with you? ;)

Jane - Thank you!

Trinsch - I would freak if rats came inside the house too! ...my screens are for mosquitos, another thing that can make me insane :)

Ninja - The squirrels are my favorite neighbors (read between the lines) :)

Francesca - All seven, and more :)

Modgirl - ...and the cousins of the zucchini thieves stole my japanese eggplants :)

Jeannette - Yes, and your cats too!

Hihi that's great! Haven't seen a lot of squirrels in our naighbourhood. But there are lots of cats and crows around here... The birds are having their certain sight seeing spots. Feels good to see them.

In our prewious home there was a crow that had no tail in our yard. He couldn't fly - he only jumped around. But he was so brave and determined, always looking for a higher spot to jump or climb on. I called him "Kraakku" (as in Finnish those birds say "kraak"). I hope he grew his tail and flew away!
