a lost sketch found between pages of a book

Years ago I worked at the San Francisco Design Center in lower Potrero which is an area mostly of warehouses, converted design studios, and old victorian apartments - a texturally interesting place, gritty, with lots of urban decay.  One day while on a lunch break I came across this massive woman sitting on the steps of an apartment building holding a tiny baby on her lap.  There was something that excited me about the volume, the contrast, the shape, the tenderness...  I rushed and found a piece of scrap paper and sharpy pen to get it down.

botero would probably approve of it. I think it's wonderful and better than botero ;)

Oh, I love this Janis. I wish I could use Swedish to describe how precious I think it is.
