I have a shoebox of stamps I acquired many years ago. Somehow it appeared among my things and I don't know how. Maybe my grandmother gave it to me - it's a mystery. Anyway, the stamps are from all over the world and most of them date from the late 50's to mid 60's. The other day I was going through the box and found this, the LOVE stamp! Wikipidia said that the image was created for a Christmas card for the Museum of Modern Art in 1964 by artist
Robert Indiana, then printed as a stamp in 1973.
LOVE it - think I might just carry it all day in my pocket.
Also, I would LOVE to share my mountain of stamps. Would you like a few? Just write an email, send me your address, and it will be done.
...............
Last but not least, shop LOVE! I want to say thank you for all the positive feed back and orders received this past week for

LOVE it too! Stamps are a rarity nowadays - and the labels post offices seem to have switched to worldwide are a pretty sad excuse for stamps.
Janis~ I so remember that stamp! Living in Indiana, and growing up in the 60s & 70s, we did not have internet & depended on Snail mail... I weekly mailed my Grandma & cousins as well as a few friends. Also went to camps were we mailed our folks. When this LOVE stamp came out we all used them.
BTW~ I LOVE your blog. I found you yesterday and would like to ask permission to feature, link & show your art. Im just a small blog with a small following. Given we have the same name sparked my interest & I want to share the love♥ Please let me know. I wont post anything without your approval as you asked on the sidebar. Oh how lucky! I am a sucker for cool old stamps, my sweet old grandfather used to collect stamps and I remember carefully saving stamps from travels and life overseas for him. Such small treasures. I can relate to your decision to carry that stamp in your pocket all day.
I made one of those loves in cross stitch...and love it!
I was collectign stamps when i was a child... love that one... it could be perfect in a collage!
I love it too! I feel like I grew up with that image, it's so familiar in such a comforting way...I think all the houses where I grew up in the suburbs had a reproduction of that image in a poster, or anyway thats how I like to remember it!!
