My new obsession: making beaded bracelets. It all started when I bought a
beautiful aquamarine bracelet for a friend and then didn't want to give it up.
Ever buy a gift and had a hard time giving it away? This was one of those times.
Though fortunately the joy of giving over powered my selfishness.
I wrapped up the gift and never looked back.

... Except for my obsession to make an identical bracelet.
Many visits to the bead shop and many beads later,
I found the same beads and made my own.
In the meanwhile, I have become a total bracelet making junkie.
I suppose this is not such a bad thing, though I am accumulating lots of bracelets.
...

The sketch above is a bracelet I made for my cousin's birthday.
Completely uncharacteristic of the ones I've been making for myself.
This one is artsy and bold because my cousin is artsy and bold.
It suits her style perfectly.
The bracelets I have been making for myself are more subtle and on the delicate side.
I will post a sample of them as soon as I take a good photo.

.....
Has an obsession ever taken you by surprise,
started by having to prove something or filling a need?

I look forward to seeing some photos of those bracelets. I remember my son, when he was very small, he never wanted to give the presents we bought for his friends to them. It was really tough convincing him to do it :)
ps: about your question re obsession: don't know - i'm rather into photography and it takes quite a lot of my free time and then I just (re)discovered sudoku (on my smart phone)...

I'm not sure the real bracelet is as beautiful as your drawing;)
Love, love, love the new header! Usually I don't like the representation of cats but yours are always so beautiful, I can see you love them!

I love the way you talk about yourself, this made me laugh :D
I have lots of obsessions I must admit, lately I'm producing lots of tiny paper buntings...they just make me happy (see how little I need to be happy!?)
I had my necklaces obsession a couple of years ago, now all the props are hidden in a cupboard!
Have fun and embrace your crafty obsessions : )))

Yes, it happened to me with knitting. I learned as a way of coping during some of my father's health issues and it stuck. That being said, I haven't been knitting much lately. Rhubarb is my latest obsession ;)

yes my dear, that happened to me with sewing and quilting... five years ago I didn't know how using a sewing machine and any fabric shop could be the less interesting thing on earth to me... but one day, just one day the things can change...

LOVE your new banner, it is so beautiful, so Janis and so perfect!

and that bracelet looks fabulous!

Love the banner...and obsessions of any case, enter and go out...reading one author, just buying beads, or making the same dish....

having to prove something or filling a need... i hope not, although subconsciously one never knows...
as of late, no obsessions. but it can start up, ANY time, as you put so bluntly.

can't wait to find out about your delicate bracelet!

I used to have such a hard time giving away gifts as a kid! I love getting gifts for people now, but every once in a while there's that something (bracelet, earrings, tea cup, etc) that is so hard to give up!

I'm currently obessed with making ceramics. I went to a drop-in night to try out the pottery wheel because a friend made me promise I would. Now it's like an addiction!

I can't wait to see your bracelets, Janis. My current obsession is spinning, because it's all so new to me - I believe - and because I haven't quite gotten it.

Jill and Catarina - Thank you...

Mlle Paradise - Thank you...
And fabric... so yesterday! Though it is rather amusing how I've been flitting from one thing to another ;^)

Alessandra - I love your paper bunting. Seems like a similar craft to making bracelets. No set-up, meditative, and instant gratification :^) Thank you...

Denise - Rhubarb, that's a great one!

Rosa Maria - Thank you ...

Sophie - I'm bummed I missed out on your seed project. Last year was such a blurr... Next time for sure. Thank you...

Ibb - Thank you!

Hannah - Ceramics, oh nice... love the potters wheel and remember how addictive it is.

Francesca - Yes, yes ! Can't wait to see the results of your spinning ... and then knitting.

Happy Creating!
I read the other post first, with the ones you made for yourself, and so I love even more the way your making process reflects yourself, and in this post how you make the things for others to reflect them (and of course 'you' go into that as well), Such a giving and receiving process, so beautiful, and surely the recipient feels all that love and care, wonderful way to go about life and creation:)))
