Pretty much the same girl except for a few wrinkles and eye glasses.

"Give me the child until he is seven, and I will give you the man"
a quote by Francis Xavier and the premise for the UP Series.

This weeks CV theme reminded me of this series. Have you seen it?
Fascinating. Every seven years since 1964, British filmmaker Michael Apted took the same group of school children and interviewed them on their lives and dreams for the future. If I am counting correctly there have been seven films in the series to date. The latest one out is 49 UP and the next 56 UP is scheduled for release in late 2011. Can't wait.

To ALL you lovelies - thank you for the nice comments - I so appreciate you! xoxo...

Catarina - Milo has been doing very well with all the activity of late - better than me ! Thoughtful of you to ask.

Rosa Maria - I am a mary jane sort of gal. Though I've been wearing this pair of shoes too much and wearing them out - I love them so much.

Mlle Paradis - I just held the camera over my head and clicked ... and my hair, thank you for that - though I think it looks better on camera ;^) ...and YAY for knowing the UP series. I thought more people would be familiar. I hope more will see it now. It really is extraordinary!

Alessandra - We get flashy pink hydrangeas at the end of the season (September). I will have to take a photo of the color range of my plants right now for you to see. Ah, a blog post perhaps?!

Jane - Now that you mention it, yes it IS sort of depressing! Even still, I am captivated. This sort of thing fascinates me :^)

What a sweet post, and nice photos of you back in time and now. I haven't seen that series, I hope there's something available on youtube, sounds very interesting - how do we remain the same, and yet change so much? How does that happen, and make sense at the same time? I look at the 5 yr old you holding a stuffed animal, and see a love of cats there already ...

I love, love love this. Thank you Janis for showing me the UP series. It's a miracle, watching those little boys turning into middleaged men. And all that has happened around them. I am so fascinated.

Hi Janis,
I hope your absence from this space means things are coming along with the house:)

Meant to tell you I enjoyed this post last week..but I got a bit busy myself before my little trip to Denver. The childhood photo of you is so sweet. Nutsy is a great name for a pet!

I love looking back and your current self portrait is wonderful too. I know I've seen at least one of these films. The topic is so interesting. I do feel like much of my seven year old self is still here with me. Nutsy is a great name for a cat.
