unstill life

My kitchen block is like sand play only with cups and flowers.
It is a place where change happens quickly.
A miniature world in the center of my kitchen where
objects are moved around like a stage set -
in constant change and always in flux.
Sometimes beautiful, sometimes not.

Ah,
I bet it's beautiful most of the time.

I actually got to do sandplay therapy once- one of the professors at the art school I went to, his wife was a Jungian Sand-play therapist. She had this big sandbox in her sunroom, and a beautiful wooden cabinet filled with toys...

Our kitchen table is the center of our house, and it's always in constant change too, but also always way too messy!

And I travel with you in your time machine, one more time, and see a painting by Osias Beert in your picture...

well, honey bun, only you could turn the not-necessarily-inspiring-kitchen-block into ephemeral-ever-changing-(un)still-lives this way :)

There are some strange visitants there...could be wooden birds?

Now...that´s inspiring! I now know what I have to do with my new kitchen table. ;-)))
But I´m afraid it will never this good. It´s so inviting.
Love the flowers..they are my mothers favorites. She loves the way they smell.
Big hug, Jeannette

We have a similar spot in our kitchen. But not as pretty as yours!

What a poetic chopping board! Love it! I grew up with one, an island standing in the center of the kitchen - and truly the center of all the comings and goings of the house. From leaning in on elbows with steaming cups of tea with my sisters to late night nibbling and joking with whoever had just returned from dancing or parties or late night walks in the snow. So many memories connect with that solid piece of wood, like an anchor of sorts.
