Happy leafy tops intact

Buying these from the green grocer I politely asked if he would be careful not to break the leafy tops, that I chose my persimmons based on the formation of the green part. I got a strange look. I didn't think this was such a peculiar thing to ask, or was it? Hadn't he heard this before? Perhaps this is odd, but it was well worth the awkward moment.

Not strange at all if you ask me. I've always loved their looks more than their taste. Have a great weekend!

I would always buy a pear with a leaf attached, or things that have an appearance of being hand picked as if from ones own tree if possible...so requesting this is smart Janis!
When a lived in the much cooler climate of Melbourne with an abundance of markets- gardening was easily a true pleasure - and I grew to delight in filling my home with finds from everywhere including things from a rambling garden of my own...always natural and non-processed. In the same way I love flowers indoors somewhat 'au naturale' I love to see edible produce looking like it came from nature, not a lab!

always thought provoking words from you Janis...no matter how brief!

i, too, have been known to buy a persimmon or two just because of their sumptuous color and wonderfully formed leaves.
