The first best kept secret is the flowering maple, or Abutilon hybridum. This is one of my favorite old fashion garden plants and I love them so much that I have six scattered throughout the yard in different colors. The great thing about this plant is that it is evergreen and blooms almost all year around. A real fairytale flowering plant. How come I don't see more of them? Must be a secret.
The second best kept secret is the dried mango. I discovered these a few months ago when the owner of my favorite produce market gave me a free bunch to try. I never thought about trying them before, but now I'm a dried mango junkie and can't stop eating them. I jones for dried mangoes ... who knew? This must be a secret too.

Beautiful light and flowers. We can't grow them in Sweden. The summers are too short and the winters to cold. I'll have to try dried mango.

Janis,

xo
I like dried mangos, but I have never heard of flowering maples before. That flower is very pretty!
Dried mango is probably the best dried fruit ever! I just love its taste.
Lovely post, the flower is beautiful.
Thank you for yor nice comment on my blog :)
Have a great day,
Kasia
Thank you everyone for such nice comments!
Francesca - I would think Italy would have this plant. And the light on the mango chip? It's a shadow from the Mexican papercut above it!
Natsumi - you can dry them at home if you have the equipment. I've dried apples before - yum! These dried mangoes were store bought :)
Malo - you might not have this plant in Sweden (who knows, maybe you do?) but you have SWEDEN, and I'll take that! :)
Jennifer - Yes! Grow it in dappled shade. More shade, less sun :) You can also train it on a trellis as well as in bush form. A hardy plant - big plus. xo

dried mango is, indeed, delicious and I could do with some resistant plants as I think I've just "killed" my black-eyed Susan vine, sniff! are these all right in a big pot in the balcony too, you reckon?
