I have some nice old photos, some family and some found. My plan is to give these vintage photos new life by posting one, or a group, once a week. I feel it's such a waste not to share such works of art. So I'll start with this one, of my grandfather and father in the Palace Barber Shop, San Jose, California.

wauw
this wonderful. i like your idea. i can´t wait to see more. (especially love to see the clothes, hair styles etc :)) happy weekend!
Oh I love this photo, seems coming out of an old movie. I'd love to see others, what a great idea!!
This is a wonderful photo! I love vintage photos - a look into the past. Will be looking forward to seeing yours.
Utterly charming image and so lovely to have in your possession janis. I'm quite surprised because no photograph I have seen from this era ever looks quite this poetic from typical family photos. They may be interesting, make one feel fondness or delight but not have this simple human drama going on and therefore not carry this same intoxicating aura that this photo does. So often the photographs of loved ones show them either frozen waiting for the click of the camera or highly arranged whilst doing something stagey.
this feels intimate and eternal.... beautifully so janis!

Oh, Janis! I have no words... this is an amazing, amazing photograph! Oh!! I can't wait for more!! What treasures! Thanks for sharing!
ha. cool I'm in california in the late 1940's without having to get up from where I sit.
love this (good) version of voyeurism. muchas gracias, janis.
It's a great idea to post a photo once a week... This first one is interesting... so your grand father was a barber ? Have you ever been to his shop ?
Have a great week-end Janis !!! Bises
Thank you everyone - I am excited to post more and hope you like them too! xo, j.
Sophie - You have an amazing way with words. Really - it's such a gift. Thank you for your insightful observation...xo, j.
Cabrizette - Oh no, this is way way way before my time. My father was probably in his late teens here, or just 20. Though wish I could have seen it first hand, and known my grandfather more... Bises
great idea to share this beautiful heritage ...
This is a beautiful family photo and memory, Janis. The cars parked outside are so neat. Looking forward to the rest of your collection!
this is really great, as mentioned in a previous comment, it is a quite unusual photography from this time, almost like a film still. i guess because most photos back then were staged and well prepared (not like today where everyone's got a camera, or a mobile camera). i can't wait to see more :)
it is a wonderful idea, Janis, thank you.
would you care to be given a creative award?! i hope you would! (post 5.2)thanks again
great idea and a charming photo, thanks dear janis!
the light is beautiful in your photo- the atmosphere!
(just lately i have looked through mine.- made copies and enlarged them, so that i can see all the details. it´s amazing, suddenly i clearly remembered how to open my mothers handbag- and things like that.) :)
I love the vintage photos and you are lucky to have them! I have never seen my grandfathers photos, so I don't know what they looked like....
Hope you are having a great week!
A picture like a time machine ;) I talk about my grand ma... today ;) I like the coincidence.
For your crêpe : strawberry ou cherry ?
I love old photos! Thank you for sharing! I think I may just have to post of few of mine too?
