This could be why my allergies are going crazy. I've been picking fresh daphne and putting it in jars.
I discovered daphne on a trip to Portland a couple years ago when I happened to walk by a bush in bloom. It stopped me in my tracks. It was like walking through a waft of flying angels and harp music. Enchanting. I never knew. To me the scent is like an old fashion garden flower, and very strong. We got lucky and inherited a few bushes out back.
Daphne is poisonous so I have to keep it up high and away from curious kitties. This kitty below in particular. Molly, the most curious one. She lured me in with her coy poses as I was taking the daphne photos.
This weekend we're going to see the animated film, The Rabbi's Cat(La Chat du Rabbin), by Joann Sfar. I'm looking forward to it.

Such pretty light. Wonderful description of scent. And I must see this La Chat du Rabbin.
all lovely stuff. i dreamed about daphne every winter in new jersey. you're lucky to inherit - i hear they can be difficult to grow. ....also that the rabbi's cat is good!
bon weekend enjoy it. and bless you!
So romantic atmosphere...and I notice you are drawing and handwritting. Great!
Enjoy the weekend
How I love your drawings! And your amazing cat and the light and the shades in your photos and your plants and...:-) enjoy the weekend and take care, xoxo!
So wrote the right word : Enchanting!
So peacefull.. good to see you have started posting again :)
How was the movie?
Thank you ...
Anna - we planned to see it last night though it had already left the local theater, and so we missed it! We might go into the city where it's playing...or just rent the DVD.
if only we could smell and pet through the internet, it would be a perfect world!
Is it the same plant as a bay laurel? I didn't know it could cause allergies (my big boy has pollen allergy problems). We have one by the side of the house, it's invasive, and needs to be cut back all the time, but i love it because it's evergreen and lush - just what I need to see on these gray winter days!
hey you, stop poisoning yourself! :) I do understand, though, plant love is plant love.
I was going to ask you about the film but then read your reply up there... I'll have to go and check it out myself.
Lost in Sicily - I agree! These should be scratch and sniff blogs ;^)
Francesca - I'm sending you some photos email. Not a Bay Laurel, very different. Though I do see the resemblance and see why you might think that. The fragrance is almost tropical, like a plumeria. Though the plant itself looks like an ordinary pittosporum.
p.s. I am allergic to everything, though I continue to sniff all the flowers! X
Ninja - Yes! The poison is under control ;^)
I love your little plants in the old tea containers! What a sweet idea. :)
I so love your drawings! Beautiful. Enjoyed reading your description of coming upon the scent of the daphne flower for the first time, sometimes that is just exactly how it happens and feels! I wish I could smell this flower, will keep my eyes out for it next time we go the botanical gardens, maybe they grow here! Enjoy the film, shall be off to look it up now!
what a beautiful sunlight you have. Hope the movie was good :)
Beautiful love story!
Hope your allergies feel better, perhaps they are indeed a `test` of your love, when we love something it is unconditional and your dedication daphne despite the allergies feels like that!!
Happy movie-viewing!
And thank you for your fun comment, about the i-pod I never thought to get one because I saw it as blocking out the senses when people wear them outside, but when I inherited my daughters and started the river runs, it really connects me to the sun and moving clouds and energies and rhythms as I listen to the music, and everything seems to move together!! whew, long comment! PS is the moon big and orange there tonite?! enjoy♡
jgy - interesting thought on allergies, though they've gotten worse since I made this post. I can't image this being love! ;^)
I will check out the moon tonight and give you my report. Your version sounds lovely. PS...I appreciate long comments, so thank you!

Good night to you!
