Lime green, like in Puerto Rico

We discovered Sol Food pretty quickly after moving up here. It was our go-to place whenever we wanted a treat, but it got to be an addiction. So much so that it took about 6 months before we could pass the restaurant without the lime green building triggering a strong craving in us like junkies. It was serious, but I can now report we've learned to pace ourselves like locals and old timers.

Not so smitten was a gentleman who wrote a letter (above) with a much different reaction to the lime green building. The restaurant proudly posts this letter at the front entrance. Funny how subjective design is. Check out the online splash page if you can, it's pretty stylish too.

Gosh, that guy is so patronising!
Maybe it's better not have that kind of people eating in your restaurant, so much venom!!! :D
PS I like their splash page it gives an idea of the vibrant puerto rican cuisine.

I have the feeling Angelo is secretly dining in this fine lime green establishment.

Daniel - me too, let's go!

Denise - Funny, I've been thinking the same thing. It's kind of hard to stay away :)

Still, it's nice that people feel free to write a fairly civil letter, and SIGN it. I feel passionate about the look of the place when I eat out, though I wouldn't presume to write an unkind (however civil) letter. The pizzeria down the hill, in an ancient water mill, just renovated: away went the little tables with gingham table cloth and curtains, away went the old lamps, away went the stone walls, and in came spot lights, shiny tiles to cover the stone, and brown and gold table cloths. Ouch! It was a shock, I *almost* wrote a letter (not :)), but the owners are so proud of it now! And the pizza is still the best :)

Each to his own, but I like the lime green. Heck so many of the buildings in San Juan are falling apart. I know that is part of the charm, but the guy should appreciate that someone is actually taking care of the city.
