I found a surprise on my walk to the library and didn't know what to make of it. Why was an aladdin's lamp on a public bench, and who left it there? After weighing the options and contemplating the mysteries, I chose to leave it alone. It seemed sweet and exciting to encounter, though a little creepy too. So I played it safe and walked away leaving it on the bench, untouched. The random act of weirdness was magic enough for me.

that would make a person wonder!!!! did you try rubbing it a couple times before you walked away?
no rubbing? no asking for ridiculously impossible character-altering wishes?
there you go. content and balanced janis ;)
now you have to tell me where that library is. not believing in magic is one thing, finding fabulously random items on your path is another.
I love this!!! What an interesting find. I sure wonder who left it:)
MP - no way. First, I'm a germ freak so I wouldn't touch it simply because of that. Second, I don't believe in genies!
Ninja - Fairfax (Marin county)...a tiny mountain town filled with artist, musicians, and wonderfully (happy) alternative people. A mini Amsterdam!
Jaime - me too!
why creepy? a magic lamp is exactly what i would have expected to find in your community!
So intriguing. I love Northern California. I wonder what I would do in a similar situation. Maybe sit beside it for a while.
It was probably abandoned there by the previous owner : Alladin.
Hihi, that's weird. But I can understand the creepy part! I found a fiver from the ground two months ago and it's still in my pocket. Somehow I feel I must not waste it in whatever comes to mind. I hope that in some mysterious way the real owner or someone in need could have it...
how exiting :)
did you hear the Genie smiling because you didn't touch it ??;-)
Hi Janis...long time , I know, January was very tough for us, February will be easier...so maybe a tea will be a great pleasure..Let me know
Love love

I guess the genius of the lamp gave you a lot of talents.
You should have asked something...just to try...
I would have HAD to pick it up and rub it! Or were you worried somebody would jump out from behind the tree?!
ha ha ha... loving this. i may well have had exactly the same reaction to a wandering alladin's... a little provocative even, i might have judged it. tee hee.
by the way, janis, thank you so much for your sweet comments.

:) i´m sure it means that who ever sees it can make a wish, or should make one. (but be careful what you wish for!)
so, now when you share it with us- we all have the same opportunity! thanks dear!
isn´t this life full of surprises!
Love it! How fun and weird too! :) Weren't you a bit tempted? I might have been, but probably would leave it too! Ha!
Yes, I love this too!
So full of magic in itself,
seems to go with the enchanted tree.
And the subtle blue and wonderful light it almost feels like a "Janis" moment, if you didn't write anything I would have believed you put it there!
On a personal note, for a few years I was "finding " things and even made a blog of it (foundinjapan.blogspot.com).
I kept feeling like things were speaking to me, and it was so much fun to listen and find the messages in them. Finally the whole finding experience seemed to lead me back to myself. ! So I enjoy a lot seeing this finding post of yours:))
