Bolinas, CA
A lunchtime mini-vacation. Up Sir Francis Drake, left on Hwy 1 at Olema, look for the (non)sign*, take a right.
The heat wave ended yesterday which gave us a good excuse to take off for an extended lunch break. The criteria for our mini-trip was that the location had to be fairly near, and the roads going to and from had to be pretty - not much else, and as simple as that. So we chose our destination, found nice wooded roads to drive on, ate lunch, took a little walk, then slowly made our way back home. A much needed mid-week getaway for the soul :)
*The community is perhaps best known for its reclusive residents. Historically, it is only accessible via unmarked roads; any road sign along nearby State Route 1 that points the way into town has been torn down by residents. -wikipedia
Do you have a quick (maybe even secret) lunchtime getaway?

Coast Cafe? Good call. If we are home in SF, then an escape to Fish in Sausalito is fun. West Marin escapes are the best -- Marshall Store is probably my favorite, but a pint and a Ploughman's Platter at Pelican Inn is nice too. Of course, Coast Cafe in Bolinas.
it sounds mysterious, even.
funny enough, yesterday I was trying to explain what "reclusive" means to my boy, who is reading to kill a mockingbird. he'll be impressed to learn that there's an entire town of reclusive residents.
i know where you went! oh, i guess denise does too! sounds like it hit the spot!
My lunchtimes during week are quick and in the same place, home or parent´s home...and at weekend, everything can pass, even not having lunch.
Enjoy your weekend full of secret paths to wonderful places.
it sounds like a very mysterius place ... have a great weekend.
Denise - Yes ! Coast Cafe ! and thank you for the Fish and Marshall Store tips. These are new to me. I always appreciate and enjoy finding new places to sneak off to - thanks again Denise!

I love the summer mood and washed out colors, perfect getaway.
We stayed very local, but love to explore and walk , discover cafes too:) Just happened to have posted abstractly on that topic too, though ours was very Urban.
I like the country-side feeling in your adventure:))
I have one ("Japanese") secret lunchtime getaway, but it's not dreamy like yours!
