flavor of the day

 Downtown Fairfax, dessert before dinner

It's been six months and 5 days since the big move.  And what's that saying, "where ever you go, there you are?"  So true.  Even though I feel like a brand new person here, I'm still the same old me when it comes to ice cream choice. Chocolate, maybe with strawberry.  Mr. is the same too, the risk taker, always a new flavor (earl grey this time) paired with something familiar.  He shakes his head that I stay in my comfort zone.  I eat my scoop with total satisfaction.  That's the way is.

...and you, swinging out on a limb, or cozy in your comfort zone?

I love dessert before dinner. My comfort zone is Straus Vanilla or Swensen's Cookies and Cream, although I am intrigued by Earl Grey.

I'm more a risk taker but when I feel to stay in my comfort zone I always choose nocciola and pistacchio (which is a flavour that either you love or loathe!)
earl Grey is my favourite tea, I wouldn't mind to try it : )

reminds me of the year at college when it was NOTHING BUT ice cream for dinner. and one flavor ONLY: mint chocolate chip. thank goodness there are so many more options since! cardamom is my fave of the mo'

both. depending on the day.
I'm fickle. "that's the way is."

I want a scoop, now. Some day I'll teach you the crucial concept of flavor stacking. Do you want to start with the more delicate flavor and then end strong? Or start with the stronger flavor and leave the aftertaste of the delicate flavor to linger afterwards? How do you optimize the transition zone? Which flavor goes best with the waffle cone?

Denise, Alessandra, MP - I'd like to try your interesting flavors...maybe just a lick or two :^)

Ninja - Ah, to be so flexible ;^)

Daniel - Picture me rolling my eyes. I don't need a lesson, I like chocolate! xoxoxo

I'll always end up wanting whatever Tomory is eating-
I always have food envy. This especially happens when we go out to breakfast.
You and Daniel are funny :)

In icecreams...little risk...love to enjoy familiar choises...chocolate with maybe cream, or coffee...no more...chocolate is always sure.
In other parts..sometimes risky, sometimes confort zone girl...depending on the mood.

comfort food for me is pasta.
when i have ice cream, i can never finish the cup, so i usually just have one spoon in solal's

both,
in ice creams it´s not so much about flavor, i like it when it´s not too sweet. i mean all ice cream ;) and all of it!
but really
i need something new and something old :)
if things are going always the same way, i go crazy. cannot stand routines.

but i just want to be here- don´t want to move myself (and eat all kinds of ice creams?- this dosn´t sound very healthy, does it?)

Nice moments and sweet you (not so old !!!!).

yes we all are the same here and there...
... my comfort zone says strawberry, vanilla or any tradicional flavor, but sometimes I go for something new too... coconut! ok, I'm not to much a risk person!

This is exactly what i need to hear at this point. I guess I am both a very comfort zone kind of person but yet not. Very worried when not in comfort zone but still heading out of it. Does it make sense?

I'd say you compensate each other. I like all ice cream that comes out of my gelato machine, my favorite flavors when I buy it are pistachio and lemon.

Thank you everyone - love these comments!

Jennifer - me too. Daniel takes pity on me and shares, thank goodness :^)

Emma - Ice cream or pastry at Tartine? Let's chose one, maybe next week :^)

anonymous - You seem like a nice commenter, how come you comment anonymously? There are no rules, it's whatever you feel comfortable with, a choice. I feel comfortable showing my bottom half - much cuter than my upper half! ;^)

Jane - Some days sandals, some days socks. You are not alone! Back and forth this fickle weather - today it's socks :^)

Sophie - Chocolate covered Rhubarb?! At the movies?! I have never heard of this before! This is why I love this place, I learn such interesting things about far away places! :^)

Such a cute post, I love it:))
Can't even say which I am, depends on the day, I keep saying " I can live on this" when I find something I like, and my daughter tells me I say that about every new thing I find that I like!! You'll see I post later what the thing is now.. close to Earl Gray:))

i usually enjoy the mistakes that are made outside my comfort zone: cause they remind me that I took the risk even though it failed! But most of the times I di stick with the same ice cream flavors: strawberry or lemon!

I'm a definite stay-in-my-comfort zone type gal when it comes to ice cream. Always mint chocolate chip. And like you, satisfied every time.
