in a suitcase

Channeling my anxious energy with a needle and thread. I have to do something. I can't just sit here and wait.

I've needed to do something with my energy and Daniel suggested I think of a project I could do as if we were camping, or living out of a suitcase - an art form packable within 5 minutes if we needed to show the house to a buyer. I thought about it for a while. I really liked this idea and it felt like an adventure. Funny how a story and different perspective can work sometimes.

So I've started embroidering and sewing things together. Now I look forward to these moments I can steal away and stitch. Though I have to confess, I still have my heart set on block printing too. Maybe I can come up with a condensed, 5 minute clean-up way to do it as well.

We'll see what comes next.

I love your portable creative project.
I always think of life as 'camping out', so I like that philosophy for all tims too:)
Happy sewing, and good luck with block printing, sounds like you may find a way!

Don't they say that you should have an apple pie baking in the oven when potential buyers come to see your house? I bet some tidy crafting going on (of the same level as the art in a suitcase) would look appealing too!

Emma - an exchange sounds good! Welcome back!

Anna - Yes... It has been sooo frustrating - thought we'd be on our way by now.

Jane - "smart" and my rock ;^)

jgy - Ultimately I would love to apply this philosophy to everything because I like to live minimally but... I have some messy art projects I cannot wait to get to!!! :^)

Otli - Thank you ... I will share photos of the whole space someday. It is rather nice - though I am excited to try something new too ;^)

Alessandra - I confess, even when I'm messy I'm tidy! And yes, those are lavender bags... the lavender has been so nice to work with for the calming qualities. Oh - and I did you see it? I was very inspired by your needle holder too :^) I LOVE it!

Catarina - Thank you, xo ... I will probably make so many I will have to sell them!

Francesca - True! I believe it would have a positive effect - though I get so self conscious in front of strangers... :^)

XOXO to you all !!! j.

Daniel is a smart man, but I knew that already (he chose you for a partner...very smart decision ;)

Gee, your place is so beautiful...someone will decide that it is the perfect home for them soon- I can feel it!

Embroidery seems ideal for you. It is after all a line drawing with thread. Can't wait to see more.

Keep sewing...xo

your house looks wonderful...I would buy it...
and i love your project...!
What i can see is that your creativity will explode when you get to the hoped for next stage... and it will come!
As one with experience of extended blocks to creative unleashing I have learnt that in a funny way you go ahead 10 paces afetr the trial... whereas if your life went along as normal ...its steps at a time...
ciao bella!

Oh, it looks so cozy down there! I would definitely like to take a sneak peak into your house :). Good that you found a suitable way to use or creativity. Are those little bags for potpourri or something?

cool stuff Janis. I know you must be so anxious. Selling a house is so unsettling. But on the good side, times like these are good for creativity. I love your hearth and archway. I'd buy your house! :)

i love those embroidery works you did! you must show more.

i'm not good at in-between time either. i'd love to say i'm this easygoing person and my home is where my loved ones are, but honestly, i love to have a place to settle in. so i feel you, and i admire how you made it into a beautiful and creatively inspiring project. kol hakavod to you - and daniel. did i ever tell you that daniel is the name of my youngest?

ps: your house is full of love, soon someone will love it back ;)
