Another shoe shot, I couldn't resist. But this is how I ended my week, taking a walk in the drizzle and feeling the fall (finally). I finished planting, and this was my reward for the day.

My preoccupation this week was a different sort of creativity, one that involved digging in the dirt - and I had help thankfully, otherwise I'd still be out there :) ...so this was yesterday

...and this is today, and the last I'll be planting for the fall. I wasn't sure I should show the new garden at this point - it's not even an "after" shot since the plantings are still microscopic - but I am happily celebrating the semi-completion and I wanted to share it. So in the spring or maybe later, I'll be taking another photo when the herb plantings reach knee to shoulder height, and hopefully then it will look like a real cottage-y herb garden. ...p.s. I have a plan for all the buds I'll be collecting from the lavender plants (12!). More garden photos
here.

It looks so beautiful. I love your house! Don't plants look so microscopic at first? Then they fill out. Better to do it that way than to have to dig some out if it's too much. Have a great weekend!

Our rosemary and lavender plants grow like crazy in L.A.
I"m sure by spring it will look quite different!
Your house does look beautiful!
It will look very nice in the spring. I like transplanting small young plants, spacing them out, imagining them large and growing.

Lovely to see your house and garden. Looks so cozy down there... I hope all the best to your plantings and will be waiting for the knee-high-shots :). Is there some sort of litter on top of the soil?
i think that your garden looks very beautiful already :)
Thanks for the encouraging words everyone!
Sohvie - That is mulch which is made out of miniature wood chip. mulch is good for the soil and helps prevent weed growth.
The autumn leaves are gorgeous and your garden looks beautiful. I love herbs! Hope my herbs will survive this year,,,
Enjoy the day!
