Like Christmas

On summer solstice

Yesterdays farmer's market score, and the jam maker's secret ... approach the organic fruit vendors at the end of the day and ask for "jamming" fruit. I got the apricots for eight dollars and the strawberries for free - what a happy day :)

My organic-vegan-low sugar-jam tutorial coming soon

Awesome tip. I'll have to muster up the bravery the next time I'm at the farmer's market. Awaiting your jam tutorial. :)

Jennifer - no bravery needed, the vendors are happy to see someone take the "ugly" fruit off their hands. In fact, they wanted to give me more. The apricot man said, "I've been waiting for you"
... it was very sweet.

Great tip!! I can't wait for your jam recipe. I've been meaning to start looking for a low sugar one. We are getting a bunch of rhubarb from our friends and I'm going to make jam with it. Can't wait for it!

Oh, thank you so much, Janis!! You're the best!! Can't wait to see pictures of your jam! We are actually headed out after the rain to get the rhubarb. I'll run to Whole Food tomorrow! Thanks again for taking a break from the action to write me!

Happy Cleaning... Ug!

Nicola - the apricot man asked how much I wanted to pay. I said, "you tell me because I have no idea." So he first said $10, then he changed his mind to $8. I felt this was reasonable and said okay. And for the strawberry man, I asked how much and he said "free."

My neighbors just donated a crate of "jamming" apricots yesterday, which require immediate attention today. I've been making jam for years, and I'm curious about your jam description: can jam not be "vegan:?
